Infact, Hein Werner is, without a doubt, the best manufacturer of floor jacks. A lot of people readdlly just don’t want to compromise their safety in buying cheaper, unfamous, and inferior jacks making the Hein-Werner a favourite brand of jack. Hein-Werner jacks may be quite pricey but they offer longevity and allow easier repair.
The HW93624 has a unique pump assembly and U-Joint release mechanism which makes jacking tasks more effortless compared to other jack models.
The Hein-Werner is fully made from steel which gives it plenty of strength to handle its rated 2 ton lifting capacity. Its side plates are flanged to reduce flexing and increase rigidity. The jack is not considered a low profile jack, but its 3-3/4″ minimum lift height is already quite considerable. The unit is furnished with a one piece saddle though doesn’t have any padding and is shaped like a square with rounded corners. Hein-Werner HW93642 has notches on all four sides to make the lifting points of the vehicle not prone to slip off. Its rear casters swivel 360 degrees to allow for easy rolling and positioning. The unit is quite heavy but the easiest way to carry it around is by removing the lifting pole and carrying it by the front axle.
LIFTING AND LOWERING SYSTEM DESIGN
The removable one-piece lifting pole is made out of steel which basically makes it more rigid than other units’ lifting poles. Its single hydraulic piston is sealed so that dirt or other debris won’t damage its seals or contaminate its hydraulic fluid. The main disadvantage in using this is that it will take you many strokes of the lifting pole to reach its maximum height. The main advantage is that it requires less effort to operate the lifting pole.The hydraulic valve is closed and opened by turning the lifting pole clockwise then counter-clockwise respectively. One noticeable thing about this jack is that it uses a universal joint in between the lifting pole socket and the hydraulic valvewhich basically makes it very easy to precisely operate the hydraulic valve. This jack is also furnished with a safety overload valve that won’t allow it to lift loads higher than its rated capacity.
Conclusion and Recommendation
With the Hein Werner Hw93642, you can have the highest of quality 2 ton jacks for its price. It is made with top-notch steel materials to make it durable and capable of carrying its lifting capacity without breaking down on you, thus making it a safe garage tool. And we know how we regard of safety as the most important factor in buying any product.
The only drawbacks with this jack are the lack of a padded saddle and the fact that it is quite heavy at 99 lbs which basically makes carrying it around very stressful.
Having said that, the Hein-Werner Hw93642 2 Ton Service Jack, is still undoubtedly the best 2 Ton floor Jack on the market. All products have their pros and cons. What is important is the product’s ability to efficiently perform its purposes without compromising quality and safety and these are exactly what the Hein-Werner H93642 offers.

Very fast shipping from Tool Topia: ordered Thursday night and was delivered Monday afternoon. Wow! And three phone calls, one from ToolTopia, one from shipper and one from the driver. NICE. Shipped on a large pallet, securely strapped down. Jack is in perfect condition – just needed the hydraulic oil to be topped off (looks like the pallet was tilted on it’s side and some of the oil had drained out the breather cap). One bolt to tighten on the handle and gave it a try under my wife’s Xterra. Lifted it with ease. Much easier pressure required than my old Chinese Freight jack, that was like bench pressing a heavy load. Nice easy, smooth let down, too. Top quality appearance and construction. Even the delivery driver stopped a few minutes to admire the fit and finish of this Hein-Werner tool. FYI, according to Hein-Werner, this jack is 96% made in the USA. All of the crucial parts: pump, lift arm, etc. are made here in the USA. Just a couple of small castings are outsourced. American’s building quality tools right here in the good old USA. NICE. Anybody want my old Chinese Freight jack? It would make a nice paper weight, especially if you don’t mind the dripping oil . . . Truthfully, that dripping jack is what started me on a quest to buy only top quality, American made if I can find them, tools. I like to buy things once. Lesson learned. Gee, an old dog can learn new tricks.

I did take one star off because, despite the description on Amazon and others reviews, this jack is not made in the USA. It clearly states on the jack that it is assembled in the US from US and global components. I thought I was purchasing a 100% USA product.
It’s still a great jack and at least it is NOT 100% made in China.

A hydraulic jack uses hydraulic power. Hydraulic jacks are typically used for shop work, rather than as an emergency jack to be carried with the vehicle. Use of jacks not designed for a specific vehicle requires more than the usual care in selecting ground conditions, the jacking point on the vehicle, and to ensure stability when the jack is extended. Hydraulic jacks are often used to lift elevators in low and medium rise buildings.
A hydraulic jack uses a fluid, which is incompressible, that is forced into a cylinder by a pump plunger. Oil is used since it is self lubricating and stable. When the plunger pulls back, it draws oil out of the reservoir through a suction check valve into the pump chamber. When the plunger moves forward, it pushes the oil through a discharge check valve into the cylinder. The suction valve ball is within the chamber and opens with each draw of the plunger. The discharge valve ball is outside the chamber and opens when the oil is pushed into the cylinder. At this point the suction ball within the chamber is forced shut and oil pressure builds in the cylinder.
In a floor jack (aka ‘trolley jack’) a horizontal piston pushes on the short end of a bellcrank, with the long arm providing the vertical motion to a lifting pad, kept horizontal with a horizontal linkage. Floor jacks usually include castors and wheels, allowing compensation for the arc taken by the lifting pad.
